City of Light and Song
Hello, my name is Emma. I live in Cumbria. In 1995 I had an awesome dream. I had only been a Christian for a few years, and in my dream I was taken by someone — who I later realised was my guide—into a majestically large hall.
It resembled a reception area of some sort. In the hall were thousands of people moving around in fellowship. There was an air of expectancy about the place, and all the people seemed to be waiting for something to happen. The hall was incredibly beautiful; I had never seen anything like it before.
As I looked around I saw, on the right-hand side of the hall, a large group of people talking. On the left-hand side were rows of pews, and a person—standing on a pedestal of some kind—holding a big book, (At that time I never knew about the ‘Book of Life,’ as it is described in Revelation). Yet somehow I knew that this was that Book.
I walked up to the person holding the Book, and asked Him, “Is my name in there?”
He replied, “Yes”
Then I asked Him, “Are the names of my family and husband written in there?”
He answered, “Yes, they are.”
Fountain of Pure Water
Next to him where some big doors and I saw them open. I walked up to the doors, the doorway was filled with a brilliant light. As I walked through them I found myself standing in the middle of a large city of light. It was so beautiful. The air was perfectly clear, the sky was a rich blue, the whole city was filled with a light which seemed to be emanating from everywhere.
There was no sun, or at least none that I could see. In front of me I saw a large square, and standing at its centre was a large fountain pushing fingers of pure, crystal-clear water high into the sky. The fountain resembled a crystal chandelier as jets of water reached their zenith, hovered, and then, folding over like an umbrella, poured back down into the fountain again. The water was so beautiful I could almost taste its purity.
A beautiful sound filled the city as thousands of people all sang in perfect harmony. As I walked around this city of light and song I heard indescribably beautiful music.
I saw many buildings, all filled with a soft light. It was so fantastic that I just felt I wanted to stay there forever and bask in the peace and beauty that was all around me.
I walked among the thousands of people who were gathering in the square. I went over to the fountain and, as I passed by the side of it, I saw a fantastic building. I knew that this was a palace of some kind. I hadn’t seen it before, because it had been hidden behind the fountain. It was majestic!
My guide spoke to me; he was calmly explaining to me all that I could see. His voice was like a whisper in my head.
I turned to him and asked, “Is God sat on the throne in that building? Can I see Him?”
He replied, “No, not just yet, but you can come back soon.”
Then I woke up from the dream. I remembered the last words of my guide, and hoped that the day would soon come when I could go back.
Return to the City of Light
I had to wait for 5 years. In the year 2000 I was taken back. This time I was standing in a room and I could see rows and rows of people all dressed in white robes. They were singing and praising God with such beautiful voices. Hovering high above them were thousands of angels rejoicing and praising God. Then I saw Jesus. He was looking over us all.
I felt a deep sense of peace and noticed that He was looking directly at me. I could see His eyes.
“He knows my name,” I thought.
Then I felt myself moving slowly forward through the crowd of people. They were gently touching my shoulders with their hands and I was moving towards the front of the crowd towards Jesus. I tried to hold back, but I couldn’t. I felt myself inexplicably moving forward.
“I need to be at the back,” I thought. “I shouldn’t be at the front!”
All the people were singing and praising Jesus. It was an incredibly beautiful experience. I just basked in the peace I felt. I raised my hands and sang.
Then sadly I woke up. I can still remember the dream just as if it was yesterday. I know I will go back one day, when the Lord calls me, and I thank Him, and bring glory to Him through this testimony.
“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” ( 2 Corinthians 4:18 NASB).
“Therefore write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after these things.” (Revelation 1:19 NASB).
